The Lobbying Act and its related Regulations came into force on July 2, 2008. In order to help lobbyists, registrants, public office holders and the public familiarize themselves with the new Act, the Office has prepared several documents:

  • a backgrounder on the requirements of the Lobbying Act and the Lobbyists' Code of Conduct;
  • PowerPoint presentations and Implementation Noticesto help Designated Public Office Holders, Consultant lobbyists and In-house lobbyists (corporations and organizations) famaliarize themselves with the reporting requirements under the Lobbying Act;
  • an explanatory booklet on key modifications brought forward by the Act.

The lobbyists' Guide to Registration, contains detailed information about the current registration process. It explains the registration requirements under the current Act. For additional information, the full text of the Lobbyists' Code of Conduct (the Code), as well as annual reports on the Act and the Code tabled in Parliament are available for consultation.
